Nepal is a beautiful country with rich history, mountains and
jungles. My wife and
i visited Nepal for 8 days starting from Kathmandu and
finishing at Birganj/Raxaul border between Nepal and India. We
spent three days in Kathmandu, two days in pokhra and last two days in
chitwan.
Nepal was never an alien country to me. I spent most of my
childhood in a small town in bihar near India/Nepal border. 2 year back
i bought lonely planet book on Nepal of thinking to visit Nepal but
always delayed my visit with only excuse that it is very near to my home and we
will do it some other time. Finally in March we decided to do it along with my vacation
at home.

There are lots of similarity between Nepal and North Indian
culture and language. Hindi is understood by almost everyone in the city. Even
the script Devanagari of Hindi and Nepali is same.
Similar to other south Asian Nations Nepal is one of the poorest country
in Asia and facing lots of similar issue like lack of infrastructure and power
shortage. There is 10 to 12 hour of electricity cut in almost all the major
cities.
People are happy, friendly and always ready to help. Nepalese cuisine is very similar to North Indian cuisine. What we liked
most was MOMOs. We had momo before in different part of India including Sikkim
and Delhi but nothing like what we had in Nepal.
