Madras Crocodile Bank Trust, Mahabalipuram ( Mamallapuram), Tamilnadu

Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Centre for Herpetology (MCBT) is on the way to mahabalipuram from Chennai.
 
 It  is a reptile zoo and herpetology research center. This is having large number of species of crocodiles and alligators from all around the world. It is also home of many  turtle, tortoise, Snake and birds.On the way back from mahabalipuram we went to see this park. 
This place is full of thousands of crocodiles and magar and like small forest with many ponds. Many ponds are over populated and everywhere we could see was crocodiles and crocodiles. Many of the species are in endanger list and centre is helping in breeding program.
We saw many species of turtle and snakes inside the park. 
Major attraction is aldabra giant tortoise. Aldabra tortoise is the second biggest tortoise of the world. There were three aldabra tortoise and it was like big stone.
There is also  a government centre for venom extraction Inside the Crocodile bank trust. First time i saw all the four poisonous snake of india  ( Big four) at one place. These snakes are responsible for most number of fatal cases in the world. Workers were briefing about the method of venom extraction and the snakes. They were handling poisonous  snakes like toys.
There was hundreds of earthen pots containing snakes.

I missed the opportunity to photograph beautiful birds by not bringing my Telephoto lens.
